Career Navigator: from assessment to first conversation

A career-coaching client wanted to turn raw psychometric data into action. We built Career Navigator — a tool that reads a candidate's OntologyOfValue assessment and résumé, asks a few targeted questions, and produces a personalized Career Navigator page plus a polished document pointing to the companies, roles, and people worth pursuing next.

The challenge

Candidates finishing the OntologyOfValue.com assessment received a rich profile of their values, strengths, and motivations — but were often left asking "so what do I do with this?" The gap between self-knowledge and a concrete job search was wide: which companies fit my values, which roles match my experience, and how do I actually reach the right people without sounding generic?

Coaches were bridging that gap by hand — reading results, cross-referencing résumés, and drafting outreach one candidate at a time. It was thoughtful work, but it didn't scale.

What we built

Career Navigator ingests three inputs and turns them into a guided plan:

  • The OntologyOfValue assessment. The candidate's values and motivation profile becomes the lens for every recommendation — so matches reflect what they care about, not just what they've done.
  • The résumé. We parse experience, skills, and trajectory to anchor recommendations in real, demonstrable qualifications.
  • A short set of questions. A few targeted prompts about the work environment they want — team size, pace, remote vs. in-person, mission, compensation priorities — sharpen the search before any matching happens.

From there, the system generates a personalized Career Navigator page and a downloadable document that includes:

  • Best-match companies — ranked against the candidate's values and the environment they described.
  • Best-fit positions — specific roles where their experience and motivations line up.
  • People to approach — relevant contacts at each target company.
  • Ready-to-send outreach — tailored sample drafts for email and LinkedIn, written in the candidate's voice and referencing why the fit is real.

How it works

Career Navigator follows a simple flow that feels like a conversation with a coach rather than a form to fill out:

  1. Connect the data. The candidate brings their OntologyOfValue results and uploads their résumé.
  2. Answer a few questions. The tool asks about the work environment they're looking for to focus the search.
  3. Generate the navigator. The system synthesizes everything into a ranked, explained set of companies and roles.
  4. Reach out. For each opportunity, it surfaces the right contacts and drafts personalized outreach the candidate can send with one edit.

The result

Candidates leave the assessment with momentum instead of a question mark. Instead of a generic "good luck out there," they get a concrete, values-aligned target list and the words to start the conversation. Coaches scale their impact — the careful, personalized work they used to do by hand now happens in minutes, leaving them free to focus on the human coaching that software can't replace.

Result: Self-knowledge turned into a focused job search and warm outreach — assessment to first conversation, in one guided session.
